Lithuanian Odyssey – Episode 7 – Pillheads and Heroin Addicts in High School

jamesjosephbrown.com Courtney and her boyfriend Ryan already know how to tell the difference between a pillhead and a heroin user, though to be honest i did too at there age, due to the prevalence of drug and alcohol abuse in the Athol/Orange area. They share their experiences growing up in an environment where exposure to this is commonplace, as well as their thoughts on drunk driving, the perceived bias of law enforcement, and the lack of public transportation in the area. I don’t believe all that much has really changed since I was their age when it comes to drug and alcohol abuse because the mentality in the area doesn’t seem to have changed. Adults are still trying to keep kids away from drugs and alcohol and that’s the wrong way to go about it in my opinion. I believe it’s time to try something new because this way is obviously not working. How about we create something more interesting and inpiring to strive for instead? How about we believe in them and offer them better alternatives instead of pursuing this futile effort of trying to keep them away from something that is impossible to hide away like a dirty little secret?
