I’m afraid of heights. I don’t like the feeling of being “on top of the world”. I don’t know the thrill that roller coasters, bungee jumping or rock climbing bring. Unlike most people, I don’t plan on visiting the Eiffel Tower of Paris or the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I don’t even know the feeling of traveling via an airplane. My friend told me that specific phobias are types of dual diagnosis. Do I have dual diagnosis? Do I need to get treatment?

Acrophobia or any type of specific phobia is considered as a dual diagnosis if it is accompanied by an abuse of alcohol or drugs. So I guess I can’t really answer your question unless you tell me whether you’re addicted to drugs and alcohol or not. Some phobias do not require to be treated because they are not that serious. I mean, you’re okay as long as you stay away from high places. Right? I guess there’s no need to worry that much.
