If Cutters Like to Cut, Why Do Most of Them Want to Stop? (Read Details)?

Question by Merci Pour Le Venin: If cutters like to cut, why do most of them want to stop? (read details)?
I read a comment on here about cutting that kind of made me think.

“when i see their scars, it reminds me of how good it feels when the razor kisses my skin. It makes me want to cut more and more because i think of how long its been since I have, and it won’t be too bad if i have another relapse”

i’ve heard multiple cutters describe cutting as a release and as a good feeling, so if that’s true, why do most cutters at the same time want to quit cutting? I know that it can be dangerous and causes people around them pain, but are those the only reasons? I’m not trying to be offensive, I’m literally just really curious.
just to clarify, i’m not saying cutting is in any way a good thing. i just want to understand why people who seem to enjoy self-harm want to quit.

Cutting is about attention, saying you want to stop is the “cry for help” double the attention.

It’s like when they say no one knows they do it, yes they do, but you are supposed to grow out of it when you get a little more interesting.
