Question by lechatnoir35: I am writing an essay this is my intro.?
I think my thesis may need a little help. How do you feel it flows? Any suggestions?
The 1980’s ideology stemmed for the Reagan administration. There was a conservative rising that varied greatly from the Carter administration. As first lady, Nancy Reagan launched the “Just Say No” campaign. The campaign was aimed towards the education and prevention of drug abuse. The slogan became so popular that it became the answer to other social issues, such as sex. Society was pushed to conservative norms; marriage and family values. Nancy Reagan brought a touch of fashion and formality back into the white house and this radiated to the masses; soon fashion was a key to “fitting in” and success. Movies such as Wall Street spread the mantra that “Greed is good.” The movie American Psycho was a symbolic protest against the conservative norms of the 1980s; it provides an exaggerated look at greed and fashion, along with innuendos that question the orders of the 1980s.

Sounds pretty good just a couple of slight changes. (Also, American Psycho, the novel by Bret Easton Ellis is a KILLER read, one of my favorite books ever! If you haven’t read it, pick it up, you won’t be disappointed).
Edits:
First sentence – change “1980’s” to “1980s” and change “for” to “from”
6th Sentence – you use a semi-colon, it should just be a comma
Good work.
