How Words Impact Addiction and Recovery – featuring Doug McGuirk – In this interesting lecture, industry professional Doug McGuirk demonstrates how language is a crucial in the recovery process. Using what he calls “Quality Vocabulary Consciousness,” Doug shares concepts that will help anyone who is struggling with addictive behavior and negative emotions. Greetings. Your friendly neighborhood Doug here, and I wanted to expand upon the idea of the QVC. Right, do you remember the Quality Vocabulary Consciousness or Quantum Vocabulary Consciousness? And I wanted to throw out a couple of facts. Did you know that in the English language there are approximately 500000 to 750000 words in the English language, by far more than any other language. Check this out. Of those 3500 words, approximately 2500 of them are negative, and about 1500 to 1000 are positive, which means, for some strange reason, in the English language we have more flexibility and more words to make ourselves feel horrible and considerably less, almost half as many words to make us feel great
