Question by Vette: How do I place a child in foster care? I’m out of options.?
I have a 16yr old daughter – the middle child of 5. Her father was physically abusive. I took the children and left. One child was diagnosed with cancer. After a 4 year battle she died. The 16yr old does drugs – anything she can get her hands on. She’s been arrested several times, and sent to the local teenage drug outpatient programs which made no difference. With grandma’s help, she was sent in-patient for 9 months. When she returned, she went back to her old ways. I have her in a catholic school where they drug test her every week. She buys ecstacy from somewhere, and takes it on Friday or Saturday so it will be out of her system by the time of the next test. Over spring break, she sneaks out at night, doing drugs and meeting strangers on the internet. I had her texting blocked (I took the phone away, she got one from her father, so I had him block texting), so next she’s using her school computer to continue this badness. I took her to a psycharist who diagnosed her as bi-polar. She refuses to take the medicine. I can no longer stand to have her in my house. I have younger children and she is an overwhelming bad influence. It’s 5:54 in the morning and I just caught her sneaking in. Grandma spent k on rehab, this child has mental problems and won’t take the medicine, but will do drugs. I just learned about ‘candy trippin’ she claims she’s doing – esctacy and acid together. Can someone help? I’ve tried everything.

Next time she comes home high call the cops. Let them handle her. She’ll go to juvie, then the courts will monitor her and she’ll be forced to sober up one way or another. Keep calling every time she does it. If she’s mentally unstable and tries to hurt anyone she’ll be put into a psych ward where they MAY be able to force meds, which it sounds like in this case would be a good thing.
