How Do Antidepressants Change Your Mood or Thinking Pattern?

Question by BuffoonLagoon: How do antidepressants change your mood or thinking pattern?
I know how it works biologically-I’m asking people who have actually taken them if they feel differently after taking them, and if so, could you describe how it changes your mood, behavior, or thinking patterns?
I’ve never been a super happy or optimistic person, but lately it’s gotten really bad and I just constantly want to sleep and feel extremely isolated. I was wondering if I should use antidepressant drugs to help me get out of this hole.

I was prescribed antidepressants and they help tremendously to stopping the depression. I first consulted a psychiatrist who diagnosed me as having depression and he then prescribed the medication and there was a dramatic difference in the symptoms that I had had. It took approximately six weeks for the antidepressant to take its full impact but once I was patient enough to wait for the result (my psychiatrist told me it would take this length of time to be effective as far as results recognized by myself).

The best thing to do is to consult with a psychiatrist who will be more able to diagnose depression and just what needs to be done to control it.
