Question by Danielle: How can I tell if my uncle has been taking drugs?
My uncle was on injected “speed” drugs for 30 years and was in and out of rehab and mental institutions for years. Now he apparently quit and moved in with us. He mopes around and pretends that he is “ill” when my grandmother (his mother) is around, and treats her like a servant. He lies on the couch all day watching tv and always makes a mess of the house, my grandmother cleans up after him and makes excuses. He drinks a lot. Last night he had to stay at his old house for the first time in 5 years because an electrician had to come over. He came back today and slept until 5pm. He usually goes to bed at 7pm and gets up at 7am. When my grandmother asked why he was asleep so late he said he had been awake all night. I suspect that he has been using drugs again. His eyes are bright red and his pupils are small, his eyes are wide constantly. Also he used to twitch a lot but it’s stopped. Has he been taking drugs again? How can I find out for sure?
