Hawaiian Man and Long Pinky Fingernail?
Question by 40s and Blunts: Hawaiian man and long pinky fingernail?
Now I’ve always understood that a long pinky fingernail was used for bumps of cocaine or something related to cocaine but I have a client that has this right now (I’m an attorney) and he tells me that it is something Hawaiian men do. Now I don’t know any other hawaiian men and I’ve never been there so can someone please tell me if this guy is full of crap or if this is really a cultural thing?

It can supposedly be good luck in some Asian cultures to have a pinky that reaches beyond the 1st knuckle of the 4th finger, so some will grow the nail longer.
You’ll also find references to some people doing it to demonstrate they don’t have to do menial / manual labor (a “class” thing), or to assist with ear cleaning (seriously).
But it’s probably most universally known as a drug thing (including people wanting to look “cool” even if they don’t actually do stuff).
Anyway, you’d sort of have to assess your individual client. I don’t know that it’s a widespread “Hawaiian” thing as much as perhaps a Chinese thing, etc., but he’s not necessarily full of it.
