Have You Ever Heard of Anyone Becoming Addicted to Phentermine?
Question by C K: have you ever heard of anyone becoming addicted to Phentermine?
I have been taking Phentermine for over three years now with days and sometimes weeks without taking it. I read somewhere that it is possible but when I asked the nurse at the clinic I go to, she said it wasn’t possible to develop dependency. Does anyone have a suggestion for a natural alternative? Serious answers only, please
Actually, I have lost over 100 lbs since having my baby over 3 years ago. I started taking it when I flatlined on the scale at 195 lbs for over five months.
I admit that when I am not taking the pills, I do have a few days of being able to do next to nothing which is why I have posted this question. I never noticed this before until recently. I am not taking it now and yesterday, I barely said five words. Hence the question.
One more thing since I should have known that people couldn’t possible read this question without judgement…. I do exercise- A LOT. I walk every day at a 6% incline at about 4.2 rpm’s for no less than 5 miles and row for about an hour at a pretty fast clip. This amounts to about two hours of exercise before my family even gets out of bed. Not to mention chasing and playing with my daughter, walking the dog and doing all the housework. I don’t sit on my butt all day hoping the weight will just fall off.
No, I weigh about 125 now. I was at 230 when I delivered my baby. Sorry I snapped at you. My husband read my question and pointed out that when I stop taking these pills I get verrrrry moody. Why didn’t he tell me this before??? Maybe because I would bite his head off if he had said something.
Thank you both for your answers. I guess I am also sensitive to people who think that I worked at getting fat but don’t expect to work at getting to a healthy weight again. Sorry again for taking things too personally.

Wow your nurse said that? Phentermine is basically legal speed. Yes it can be addictive. When you stop taking it do you seem a little less optimistic than usual? It is also hard on your heart too. I suppose this is for weight loss and I worry about people taking such drugs. I too once took adipex for awhile and lost weight… but of course I put it back on. Now I kickbox and am losing the weight right. The adipex made me jittery, sometimes in a total daze, but also euphoric in a weird way….
Just be careful eh? And get second opinions.. the medical community is full of differing ones.
The very first line of this link says “Phentermine is an amphetamine.”
