Question by Timothy D: Do you think drug/alcohol dependency and mental illness are used as excuses when one fears life success?
I have seen so many people who seem to have everything in the way of true happiness. One thing keeps them from being truly happy, something they create or put in their way. Take the example of a guy who really wants to take out this wonderful girl and finally gets the date. He acts like a total jerk on the date, sabotaging his chances because he fears truly being with her. But he claims it is a defect in his character, something he cannot help…. A guy gets high and misses an interview for a great job. Was it really the urge to get high or fear of getting the job. Are not substance abuse and mental illness just big picture versions of the little excuses?
