Do People in Drug and Alcohol Programs Have a Waiting Period Before Applying for a Commercial Drivers License?

Question by equilizer: Do people in drug and alcohol programs have a waiting period before applying for a commercial drivers license?
In a letter to Judge Barron, clinical supervisor Doug Stevens states that his patient is in a recovery program, it is dated August 28, 1997. On August 15, 2001 the World newspaper, Coos Bay, Or printed a story about a school bus driver who was an informant in a drug sting operation. The letter from Doug Stevens does not say when or if she completed the program .

Well,Ive been driving a truck for 12 years.Ive been a driver since 91,but commercially since’96.Ive done drugs since 1982.In Aug of 2005,I purposly failed a drug test,I needed help.( I had been doing meth, along with weed,If you must know) I was also very good at beating tests and hiding my abuse.Upon failing(3 days after the test I was notified) I then lost my priveldge to drive “safety sensitive ” equipment. But my license was still good as a class C. My rehab took about 28 weeks, plus going into the ASAP program(which basically means forking out more money for your paperwork to be pushed through Govt/DMV) So basically,It takes about a years time give or take a few months.
And it is the hardest thing your get you commercial license back, and even harder to find someone to hire you,I did it though and Im back on the road.
