The police chief said the officers in the field carry military-style M-16 or M-4 rifles, some equipped with laser sights. Other officers carry short-barrel shotguns. Many dealing crack cocaine and marijuana in the city carry pistols and AK-47 assault rifles, he said.

So now roughly twenty years later, the “trickle down” effect of big business Cocaine once again rears it’s ugly head in the form of police state excuse making. Notice in the article how they immediately describe the area as poor… in other words,
“yes we are taking away the freedoms of these people” ” but it’s for their own good” and ” they’re welcoming us”…

seems to me if they spent that same money on a Job recovery/education policy instead of a policing policy they’d be helping those “poor” people a whole lot more… but I guess that makes me a “Liberal” ?
