Are These “symptoms” Related at All?

Question by Kaye: Are these “symptoms” related at all?
I don’t have health insurance, and I don’t have the money to go to the doctor unless I have absolutely no choice. I’ve felt a little hypochondriatic lately, so I want to know if I’m obsessing over nothing or if I have any reason to be worried.

I am 19 years old and female. I am not on any medication.

I’ve had what my family has taken to calling “chronic dry lips” for over a year and a half now. I’ve used every single lip balm, lip ointment, and medical lip treatment on the market pretty much. My family even calls me a “lip treatment addict” because I apply so much, but my lips continue to feel dry and they sting from lack of moisture and they’re always dry and peeling.

I have never been lactose intolerant before, but lately, dairy products have given me terrible stomach pains to the point that I have pretty much written them completely out of my diet.

I have also just recently started to get terrible heartburn. But here is the strange part… I’ve been getting heartburn from green vegetables, particularly broccoli and celery. So, I’ve also had to write them out of my diet as well. However, salsa and spicy foods like peppers and curry are still fine.

I have started to pee a lot regularly, too. In an hour, I usually pee from anywhere from twice to up to 10 times.

I have constantly and consistently gotten canker sores in my mouth for the past five years or so. Usually, I will get two to five at once in my mouth, making it nearly impossible to eat. It will usually take about a week or so for them to heal up and go away, and then – about 3 weeks later – I will get more. Almost as if they’re on a schedule.

For the past week and a half, I have been having back pain in my lower back. It appeared suddenly without any provocation. I just went to sit down when I first noticed it, and I had not done any heavy lifting or muscle pulling exercises beforehand. It’s localized to my lower back, and if I do not try to stretch the muscles in my lower back in anyway, I can almost forget about it.

I am taking online classes, and I am unemployed, so my schedule is my own. But lately, I have been sleeping 12 to 14 hours every night. Sometimes the sleep is interrupted, where I will wake up but just not have the energy to get up yet, so that I fall back to sleep, but most nights, it’s an uninterrupted sleep. I always wake up with that really groggy, heavy feeling, and it lets me know that I slept too long immediately.

I live with 4 other people, and while they are often comfortable in our house, I feel freezing almost all the time. I am so cold sometimes, that I shiver to the point where I’m in pain from the muscle spasms. Because of this, my housemates have to heed my request to turn up the temperature. I often do not feel comfortable unless the temperature is above 75*F (23.8*C), and even then, sometimes I still shiver, and we have to put it up to 79*F (26.1*C).

For the past year and a half, I have just now started to get any acne at all, and the amount has been pretty drastic. My face is usually pretty bad, but the main problem is my chest. As a female, this is very embarrassing to have such bad acne on my chest. It covers from my collarbones down to the top of my breasts. It’s pretty localized.

I am very sensitive to the touch. My brother or parents will grab my arm sometimes, just to get my attention, and I will cry out in pain, because it feels as if their fingers are digging into my skin. My brother will flick me with a pencil just to be annoying, and it will hurt so badly that the pain will linger for up to 5 minutes afterward. I even, as I put it, “bruise like a peach” to the point where even my cat, just jumping into my lap, has left bruise marks across my thighs.

I have this one particular “bruise” along my bikini line that has been there for over a year, if not longer (I forget when I first got it). I say “bruise,” because it only hurts sometimes, so it is almost more like a skin discoloration, though it is the color of a fresh, purple bruise. Sometimes, the spot will flare up so that the elastic on my underwear alone will be very painful. During that time, I often have to squeeze at the spot, and often times, pus will come out (though not always).

Also in the past year, I have been getting headaches more frequently. They aren’t migraines, so they’re bearable, but I would rather not have to bear them at all, as I’m sure you can imagine.

I am not pregnant, before anybody suggests it (as I have seen many people just say that to ANY symptoms), as I have not had sex in over a year.

So… is this all just crappy coincidence? Or is there a chain here somewhere that I’m failing to see?
