Clinical hypnosis is a therapy, it may work for one but not for another. I have personally treated a lot of people for phobias, and other psychosomatic disorders.
Smoking is a vice and there is a craving for tobacco. The need for cigarettes is always deep rooted in the subconscious.
Firstly, to stop smoking there should be a strong will power to do so. Hypnosis can only give you suggestions to stop smoking and the craving or what to do when there is a craving for a cigarette. But most of the times, the subconscious mind always takes the upper hand and the person ends up smoking more than usual.
I AM NOT TRYING TO DISCOURAGE THE USE OF THIS GREAT THERAPY but these are the facts which I have faced while treating my patients for smoking.
If you make a sincere effort in stopping and hammer this in mind that smoking causes cancer and is injurious to health may be you will succeed in stopping with the help of a good hypnotherapist.

Hypnosis generally doesn’t work, especially for smoking. (Textbook states “Hypnosis has been … virtually useless in overcoming drug and alcohol abuse or nicotine addiction.”) Your best bet would be to set up a very regimented “stop smoking” plan and stick to it. If you are sincere about stopping, this will help you more than anything. If you feel like you just can’t do it, look for a support group or a buddy to help you out with it before turning to the gum or patches. I wish you the best of luck!
