Anxiety can create real physical problems. First of all, google anxiety solutions and learn about the ailment. Realize that lots of people have it and no one dies from it. Next, make sure your diet is not the cause. Some people get anxious from even smaller amounts of caffeine (the biggest source), alcohol, sugar, artificial sweeteners and eating too many highly refined foods (cheetos, potato chips, candy, white bread, etc) and too few whole grain and natural foods. Next, add fish oil capsules 10 per week, vitamin B complex daily and drink plenty of water. Be sure you are getting enough protein, which only takes about 4 ounces of meat or fish per day. Also be sure you are getting whole grain cereals and breads that will process slowly in your body. Learn about hypoglycemia which often is present in people who have diabetics in their family. Low blood sugar can cause anxiety. When you feel like you do now, do something. Take a walk, or a bike ride, call a friend, text somebody, etc. Often times the anxiety will pass when you are occupied with something. If none of the above has helped you enough, pills are an ok option when used with great discipline. A doctor can prescribe many different solutions, all of which come with side effects and/or risk of addiction. If you can cope with most of life with no meds, and can take a pill only before an anticipated anxiety provoking event, Xanex (alprazalam) works great. But don’t take it every day or anywhere near that often or you will get hooked on it. For some people but not all the answer is a simple safe supplement called L. Theanine. For the people who get relief from it, it is a godsend. Whole Foods and other health food stores sell it. Get the brand that also has Suntheanine printed on the label. Take 1 capsule in the evening and get much deeper and better sleep and feel less anxious for the next whole day. Google “L. Theanine and anxiety” and learn about it. It has been used widely in Japan for decades and is approved by their health ministry. It is extracted from green tea but has no caffeine. You need to experiment with the dose that works best for you. For some, just 1/2 capsule per day is the right amount, while others may need much more. For 1/2 capsule, just open the capsule and pour out half into a little water, stir and drink. Anxiety also responds well to “talk therapy.” Psychologists, and Social Workers in private practice can help you bring the fear to the surface where it no longer can haunt you. Psychiatrists are much more likely to just write a prescription and you are not likely to like the side effects.
As a place to start and to rule out a real physical problem causing fear, I recommend first going to a general practitioner or family doctor and discussing the physical problem that panicked you. It will also help settle your fears after you have ruled out a serious health issue. Good luck. You definitley can beat this.
