Well, yes, it would be helpful if your parents were willing to listen to you. But, if they don’t then you should talk to a school counsellor, a pastor, youth pastor, grandparent, etc. Yes, many of the symptoms you have listed could be attributed to ADHD. Because you are now 17, if you had ADHD as a child, you may have had some negative reactions to your behaviors, which could have effected you, too. When I was a child, I was a “tomboy”, in that I did not necessarily like things many girls liked, but I was a girl, nonetheless. I am still caring, sensitive to others, etc. If you are a sensitive person, the negative things that result from ADHD can be very frustrating. Perhaps in addition to ADHD, you have begun to suffer a little depression, too? Did you have any other negative things that happened while you were a child? I would really suggest you find someone who you can talk to. Believe that the school counsellors, youth pastors, etc. hear this type of thing. You are not the only one. They are trained for these things. If you are still struggling with drugs, these are very important people to talk to. Another place to try is some churches who have special programs that are considered more successful than the 12-step program. The one in our area is called Kensington Church. This is in Rochester, Michigan. If you can’t find one in your area, you might be able to call them. Ask to talk to the person who heads the Recovery program. Ask that person how you would find a program in your area that would compare to theirs. If they are not there when you call, you can ask when they will be there, what other number you could call, or if you can email them directly. Often pastors talk to one another and network. Do get someone to help with this. Do find someone to talk with. Then, after you have done those things and begun a plan to help you with these different things, try getting the book called, “Allergies and the Hyperactive Child”, by Dr. Doris Rapp, online booksites. This has helpful information for ADHD. But you do need to find someone who can come beside you and help you through this. Someone who is wise.
