Addiction and Babies.?

Question by ROBERT H: addiction and babies.?
serios question, for over 4 years i was highly dependant on amphetamines, and alchol, i would take amphetamines for 6 days at a time, and sleep for 2 days with plenty of valium, during this time i got my girlfriend pregnant, she didnt use drugs and rarely drank, when my son was born 15 month ago, he would only sleep tween 4t5 hours in a 24 hour period, he is now 15 months old he still doesnt sleep, but he will sit in his cot talking awat to himself for hours, he is also very fidgety, and somtimes wont eat properly,he can sit for ages just clenching his fingers in and out,he always seems to have plenty of energy, im concerned that my sperm would of been full of amphetamines and this is the reason he is the way he is, also he is a loner child he would rather play on his own, and gets agitated if people approach him, im no longer using drugs i went to rehab before he was born and got clean, is my son experiencing effects of the amphetamines, and is there anythin i can do.
the child was concieved when i was high on amphetamines, i used to take up to an ounce in any one period, depending on my mood, i no i sound stupid but my son is doing things that i used to do while i was on amphetamines, and now he is sitting in his cot in the dark talking away to himself for numerous hours is the one thats got me thinking, as i used to do this night after night.

That all sounds like normal behavior.
Clenching phase, independant phase, rebellious phase (not sleeping, not eating), energetic phase (temper tantrums, yelling, running, screaming).

It’s a little kid, these are ALL very normal things, believe me! I went through it all and the most I ever do is have a few drinks and get tipsy.

And theoretically speaking, the odds that your sperm was infected with amphetamines and survived, and had enough to carry it to the egg, is so low that it’s almost unfathomable.

Love your son and watch as he goes through everything you’ve ever heard about. everything you’ve mentioned will happen again at age 2 (IE terrible 2’s) just bear with it my friend, you’ll make a great father.
