Jonathan Rhys Meyers Enters Rehab

Hello I’m Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is now in rehab. His rep tells People magazine he recently entered an alcohol treatment facility. She says he needed a break from his busy filming schedule to recover. 29 year old Meyers stars in Showtime’s drama “The Tudors” and has also co-starred with Scarlett Johansson in the film “Match Point.” Singer and songwriter Paul Simon is being honored for his musical contributions. He’s been chosen to receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for popular song. The award honors the positive effect of one’s music on world culture. He’ll be recognized at a ceremony in Washington DC May 23. His former singer partner Art Garfunkel will be there as well as several other artists. Actress Kim Basinger says she didn’t leak Baldwin’s angry voicemail to their daughter, Ireland. The actress also says her ex-husband is unstable and should address his irrational behavior if he ever wants a relationship with his child. In the voicemail that’s posted on a public website, Baldwin calls 11 year old Ireland a “rude little pig.” Baldwin and Basinger have been in a custody battle for years now. A recent auction of music memorabilia raised big bucks to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Last weekend’s “Icons of Music” auction made 2.5 million dollars to benefit an organization that replaces instruments lost in the storm. Among the biggest sellers was Jimmi Hendrix’s guitar
