An Afghan-international security force discovered approximately 1.9 tons of processed heroin, 1,800 pounds of raw opium, and 200 pounds of ammonium nitrate during a security operation Now Zad district of Helmand province July 17, 2010.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the drugs have a U.S. street value of more than million dollars before taking into account the common practice of cutting it with other ingredients which would exponentially increase its value. The ammonium nitrate could produce 25 improvised explosive devices.
