Q&A: Finding the SE of a Percentage in a 0-1 Box?

Question by rrrachhel: Finding the SE of a percentage in a 0-1 box?
Based on the survey responses of 549 students from last year’s Stat 100 class, 37% are afraid of mice. Suppose a simple random sample of 36 students was chosen from the 549 students to participate as a test audience to preview a new movie “Mice on Meth”.

Calculate the SE of the percentage of people in the sample who afraid of mice. (Round to the nearest whole number.)

I realize the SE of the % is calculated by using the equation SDbox/ the square root of n X 100%…at least this is what I think you use. And if you haven’t realized from the “Mice on Meth” part of the question my Stats professor has an interesting sense of humor. Any help is appreciated.

Your sample of k people follows binomial distribution k ~ B(n, p) with:
n = 549
p = 0.37
