I Don’t Know if I Should Break Up With Him?

Question by lalala: I don’t know if I should break up with him?
My boyfriend used to be a heroine addict, went through treatment and has been clean for a couple months now. He just told me that he used today, and begged me not to break up with him. I don’t know how I feel, so I told him that we’ll talk tomorrow. We both love each other so much, but I’ve been around so many addicts (mostly my family) my whole life, I don’t want to deal with his. He said he made a mistake, and can change, but I just don’t know. Should I work through this with him? Am I being selfish if I break up with him? I’m so confused.

You should work through this with him as a FRIEND. Thank him for being honest with you, but if you don’t want to deal with this, then get out now. You’re not being selfish looking out for yourself. When people fight addiction, they are not alone, it effects their loved ones too.
