What Is the All the Hype About Lowering the Drinking Age to 18?
Question by M K: What is the all the hype about lowering the drinking age to 18?
It is my humble opinion that alcohol should not be made more readily available than it already is to our youth. We talk about spending billions of taxpayer dollars every year to incarcerate non-violent drug offenders (whose populations suggest that over 60% were convicted on marijuana-related charges), and yet now we want to be making booze available for every senior in high school, further endangering our already in-experienced drivers with intoxication behind the wheel…We chain you down for 4 years, lock you in a cell for smoking a weed, but let’s lower the drinking age why don’t we! Drugs are bad! Drug free America!
And don’t even get me started on the subversive targeting of demographic groups by the “Big Pharma” corporations. Bombard you with commercials about endless types of ailments and education for them… and then have a simultaneous ad running about a so called “treatment” for it! What have we become here? A nation dependent upon our own suffering, no less.

The drinking age was 18 when my parents were young and most of them and their friends turned out fine. I think if people are old enough to go to war, and are old enough to be legally responsible for their actions (signing contracts), and old enough to be put in jail as adults for crimes, they should have *all* privileges of adulthood, including drinking.
