What Do You Do if You Cannot Stop Dreaming About Someone in Your Family That Has an Alcohol Addiction?
Question by Steven Stewart: What do you do if you cannot stop dreaming about someone in your family that has an alcohol addiction?
My father is an alcoholic…plane and simple. I have done EVERYTHING since I was 7 years old to try to get him to stop drinking. NOTHING WORKS. I’m just so sick of it that I don’t know what to do because its ruining my life. I dream about this just about every night and most night I dream that I’m fighting him. Does anyone have any ideas.

Wow, sounds like you’ve been struggling with this for a while. Many people want to help a family member that has a drinking problem only to find out that the person doesn’t want help. But they may ACTUALLY want help, just not sure how to accept it. This is where an intervention can be helpful. Conducting an intervention with a specialist can be a very effective way of communicating with your dad your concerns about his alcohol abuse.
This website may be of help to you. Good luck. Your dad is lucky to have you to care about him!
