Question by Jc L: Phantom Chemical Addiction– Unknown Substance?
If one were to be unknowingly introduced to an addictive substance to the point that an addiction developed, then unknowingly taken off from the substance:

1. Would there be withdrawal symptoms?

and;

2. As the addict is unaware that he or she is suffering from chemical addiction and is unaware of the substance’s identity, how would any withdrawal symptoms manifest themselves? What would they crave?

Yes, there would be withdrawal symptoms and the addict may be very sick, depending upon the substance. Hitler’s cohorts did this to human guinea pigs before and during WWII.
