Signs of Substance Abuse?
Question by mymammoth: Signs of substance abuse?
My boyfriend and I have a neighbor in our complex who was evicted from his apartment a week ago. It was his own fault- he lost his job in February but didn’t do what it took to make ends meet (-we told him to get any job to pay rent and instead sat around like a bum), started having weird/shady “friends”coming to his apartment in the middle of the night- and these people didn’t have a place to sleep or have jobs either and would use his place to crash. He think that a particular neighbor got him evicted, or that the building owner just didn’t like him. A couple of days ago when I was talking to him I told him that with the constant weird people going in/out of his apartment (especially in the middle of the night that) that the neighbors might have thought there was drug activity in his apartment. He responded with “So what- that’s my business”. Can one assume from this type of behavior and this response that he is an addict?
Also I want to add that the last 6 months I’ve gotten a funny intuitive feeling from him that something was off. Sometimes his responses don’t make complete sense, and there have been times where he has repeated the same stories and comments to me.

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it could be a marsupial doing a great duck impression.
Your assumption seems to be based on valid observations. A shame. I hope your ex-neighbor doesn’t slip to far.
