Do You Think More Drugs Are Crossing the Border or That We Are Just Seeing More Crackdowns?
I haven’t been posting them all, but in the last few days I’ve seen many many press accounts of large drug busts. I’ve been performing immigration news searches for about 8 months now (since the marches) and have never seen so many large ones, all at once. Now there is the ‘largest in South Texas.’.
What do you think?
“Nine-ton bust; ICE officials recognize their largest drug interception ever in South Texas
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials celebrated what authorities are calling the largest South Texas drug bust in ICE history.According to a statement issued by the department Friday, authorities from various agencies acted on a tip and intercepted nearly nine tons of marijuana carrying a street value of about $8 million dollars Thursday on a property in Rio Grande City.
The contraband was found hidden in bunkers filled with massive amounts of marijuana, said Nina Pruneda, ICE spokeswoman.
The bust occurred on Agua Verde Road and raked in a load weighing 17,564 pounds.
In addition to the drugs, agents also seized a Ford F-350 pick-up truck and an arsenal of weapons.
“This was a record amount of drugs seized by ICE in this area,” Pruneda said. “The marijuana, which had been wrapped into bundles, was likely being prepared to be transported to other parts of the country.
“The marijuana has an estimated local street value of at least $8 million, depending on its final destination,” she added. ”
Angel, it isn’t a point, it is a question. That is why I pushed the ‘ask’ button.
To clarify my ‘question’, one of the things that really worries me about open borders is the Columbiazation of Mexico, and not wanting that to come here. So I’m wondering if others who watch this subject think these busts show progress at stopping the bad element or an increase in drug activity. I am looking for opinions.
no way amigo – thanks.
