Has Hiphop/rap Had a More Negative or Positive Effect on African-American Community Since It’s Birth? Explain?
Joe asked:
On One side you have reflecting African-American struggle in a seemingly unfair society (NWA) , spreading a message to change society (Dead Prez), giving young men hope to succeed and escape the ghetto (Lupe), continuing a legacy of African-American music (Ragtime, Blues, Jazz), and creating jobs. On the other the foul language (Akinyele), promotion of drug and gun use (Cypress Hill), affiliation with gangs as a “cool” element (Snoop Dogg), disgusting view of women that infect African American society (50 Cent), and the promotion of anti-police and anti-peace violence (Ice Cube).
