What Do You Know About “Food Addiction”?

Question by Nellie: What do you know about “food addiction”?
I think I am a food addict, but I’ve always thought of that as an excuse for overeating. Is that all it is? If not what can I do about it? I need to try to find a way to deal with it without medications, doctors, ect.. How could I do that (if it’s even possible)? If this is a real thing, how do I tell my parents? I’m not very good at confrontation, talking, or dealing with people freaking about emotions (what my parents would do if I tell them). If this isn’t a real thing, how can I keep myself away from food? I have no controll over what is bought/made at my house so I need some help with building up my self controll. It’s like I’m walking and then BAM, food in my hands. How can I change this? I feel like I have no control over my life. Please help me, and I’m sorry this question got so off topic…
