How to Answer Interview Questions?

Question by thatgirl: How to answer interview questions?
I have an interview friday and for my past interviews i’ve had, i get asked tricky questions and i always sit there like an idiot trying to think of something to say. Here are some examples of questions i have trouble answering.
– “Whats your biggest weakness?”
– “Whats the most stressful situation you’ve been in, and how’d you deal with it?”
– “What skills will help you in retail?”
– “Why do you want to work for this company? What do you know about this company?” (Company the interview is for, Boathouse clothing)
-“What have you done in the past to achieve great customer satisfaction?”
-“How would you describe yourself?”

If anyone can help me, and give me ideas how to answer these questions, it will be very much apprecitated.
Thanks so much.

Overall: The key thing to remember when answering any job interview question is to always make yourself sound like an asset they want to have. You shouldn’t brag about how good you are/were vs everyone else, but you should always make yourself sound good.

These specific questions:
Biggest weakness- This is one I actually ask in my interviews, and I accept just about any answer unless it’s something that’s blatantly illegal, for example, “My biggest weakness is that I steal everything I can to pay for my Meth addiction.” The stock answer that everyone gives is- “I could focus more on not working so hard. I find myself so dedicated to work that sometimes I forget my outside commitments.” Thus you turn a weakness into a strength. It’s an old trick, but it’s handy.

Stressful situation- I can’t tell you how to answer this, as your personal experience isn’t mine. However, keep it somewhat relevant (use work or schoolwork examples, not personal, “OMG my bff wouldn’t talk to me once it was so bad…” examples.) Focus on how you handled the pressure.

Helpful retail skills- This is again dependent on you. Just think of something you’re good at that has SOME relation to the job (talking to people, math, following instructions) and spin it, putting yourself in a positive light.

Company Knowledge- This is on you. Everyone should ALWAYS do research on a company they’re planning on working for.

The last 2 questions are also going to be based on your personal experience. Keep it relevant to work, and paint yourself in a positive manner, and you should be fine.
