Why Is There a Lack of Treatment for Video Game Addiction?
Question by Question Mark: Why is there a lack of treatment for video game addiction?
For some reason whenever I read a story on video game addiction or see a help website for video games people always seem to think the best way to treat it is to stop playing video games. But what’s the point? If I do have video game addiction I’m just going to move onto some other addiction. But then again, people spend all day on facebook, cell phones, television, texting, watching movies and so on and none seems to claim those are addictions. I play games for 3 hours a day and people seem to think that 3 hours is too long. I don’t think gaming addiction is real though. Just like how video games don’t cause violence. I mean, kids get obsessed with spongebob. When in adults they want to play video games they may be stressed out at work or they have some other problem in their marraige that they want to keep playing. So why is it considered an addiction by everyone else. But people use their cell phones, facebook, texting, internet or other hobbies? Why is there a lack of treatment for it?
@trance: It looks like that you just have a time management problem with your gaming. Why don’t you cut back on it a little and maybe do some other hobbies as well. All hobbies can become time consuming like working on a hobby car, or doing fishing, or anything like that.

Your not a video game addict if you play 3 hours a day but your an addict if you play games whenever you get the chance and you have to control yourself a lot and even than you can’t help yourself.
The best cure for a video game addict is to get your schedule so busy that you don’t have time to play video games and eventually you will forget about it but it takes a lot of time
Hope this helps -Elforia
