Can Doctors Prescribe Desoxyn?

Question by Brut: can doctors prescribe Desoxyn?
I have been taking adderall and it doesn’t really work anymore, i also just feel more of the negative side effects. I take one adderall a week and do not have an addictive personality and my doctor knows this.

But sine I read desoxyn has less side effects, but is considered bad since its “addictive” thats it has a sigma.

so can they?

Yes they can, however, most will refuse due to legal restrictions on the use of the drug, the stigma associated with it and so on.

Adderall is a mixture of amphetamine salts. Desoxyn is the same thing, only methamphetamine. They have basically identical side effect profiles, except that Desoxyn is substantially more potent. Whatever side effects you have on Adderall, you will likely have from Desoxyn.

Why are you only taking one Adderall dose per week? It’s usually dosed several times daily unless you’re taking an extended release formulation.

Most likely, your doctor will be unwilling to prescribe this medication unless you’ve completely exhausted the dosage options of Adderall, and all other alternatives, such as Stratterra or methylphenidate. Desoxyn considered a medication of absolute last resort, along the lines of Clozaril, or the antibiotic vancomycin several decades ago.
