Why Do Some People Want Marajuana Legalized?

Question by The Questioning Atheist: Why do some people want marajuana legalized?
I don’t get it though since people say its a gateway drug. And people tell me that marajuana is still the same even if it’s sold in the streets or sold as a prescription drug. And please tell me if medical marajuana can get you high like illegal marajuana.
