For a school project i need to create a marine device that carries an orange around our school fountain… I have chosen to make somewhat of a mini boat. I will use foam to create a rectangular body and I will cut in a square space to place the motor. The back of the body will have an outlet for the propellers. I know the design will work, I just don’t know how to make a fast and efficiant motor. can anyone please help?

You have to make the motor? Wind the wires on the core? Almost impossible because fast means precisely made and if you have to ask, you don’t have the resources.
But even if you use an assembled model motor, you have two other problems. The first is that the weight of the orange and batteries is going to be enough to sink the foam boat far enough that unless you design for it, water will come back up the shaft from the motor to the propeller and drown it, so the shaft has to be angled.
The second is that if you use a high speed motor you will have to get/make a propeller that can transfer the power to the water instead of just frothing the water with cavitation.
So a slow hand made motor might actually be better. The weight of the orange will increase the problem over just a light foam boat and you will have to make a pocket to hold the orange to keep it in place and keep the boat from being very top heavy and likely to fall over.
