Painkiller Addiction Crisis: Oklahoma’s Answer – At the fall 2012 Oklahoma Legislature Public Health Committee hearing on prescription painkiller addiction, chaired by Rep. Richard Morissette, Dan Cross, Executive Director, Absentee Shawnee Counseling Services, and Chair of the Media & Public Awareness Committee, Oklahoma Asociation for the Treatment of Opioid Addiction, gave this testimony calling for a response plan for the state to this crisis epidemic that would educate communities for early detection and intervention, and set up referral patterns toward the most effective and cost effective treatment, Opioid Treatment Programs.
