Question by Amy: For family gatherings or just for fun, do you still brew up homemade root beer?
I remember visiting Grandpa and Grandma on their farm in the early 50s when I was 6 or 7. Our being there from out of state was reason enough to have a party. I got to go with Grandpa to buy the dry ice–that was magical stuff–to make the root beer. Never has soda pop tasted so good.

Oh those were fun times. I remember having a big white crock and my dad filling the bottle and the hand contraption thing he used to put the bottle caps on then we stored them in the basement and every so often we would hear one explode.
