Hi… I just read about this drug.. And its very interesting!
Dopamine, is naturally released in your brain(And everyones) as a chemical. For us, to feel and experience, pleasure. Our brain only can produce limited amounts of it at a time. But everyone has a different filter, for how much you need to generate. This drug your taking, levodopa, helps to produce more of dopamine if your body is not producing enough. Quote from Wikipedia “L-Dopa is used to increase dopamine levels for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and Dopa-Responsive Dystonia, since it is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, whereas dopamine itself cannot.” They say, because it crosses the Blood- Brain area, Dopamine is being formed in other areas besides the brain, which can cause Nausea. But they go on to say “Conversion to dopamine also occurs in the peripheral tissues, i.e. outside the brain. This may be the mechanism of the adverse effects of levodopa. It is standard clinical practice to co-administer a peripheral DOPA decarboxylase inhibitor—carbidopa or benserazide—and often a catechol-O-methyl transferase (COMT) inhibitor, to prevent synthesis of dopamine in peripheral tissue.”
So basically, you can take other inhibitors, to equalize the extra amounts of Dopamine being produced outside the brain. Hope this helps.
(Quick Note; Which might have something to do with your other Problem:)
