Are There Laws Against What You Can Name Your Child in America?

Question by Brittany: Are there laws against what you can name your child in America?
I was just curious if you can name your child the b word if you wanted to. Not that I would do that but at my old job there was an older man named “Gay Love” I thought to myself why would you name your child that!!! His first name was Gay and last name Love. I know that his name was legal but it got me thinking could you name your child anything you wanted including profanity words?

yes you can name your child whatever you want. i could name my daughter 6743 Murderdoll if i felt like it. however, when a parent names thier kids something messed up like “fuktard” or “crystal meth” it sends up a red flag in the system so CPS will get involved and if they find out you are more than just an idiot parent then they will take the kids, adopt them out, and the adoptive parents will give them a proper name.
