Would You Watch a Movie About the Queen Mother?

Question by Paco: Would you watch a movie about the Queen Mother?
I found an old Time magazine cover article dated 1929 that indicated that Prince Edward was talking about abidicating almost a decade before he became king. I am getting a picture of the young Elizabeth at the age of 22 marrying into a family of men not very suited to world leadership. Son #1, perpetual adolescent, Son #2, her husband (George VI) was stutterer and introverted, the stress killed him at a young age of 56, Son #3, a very shy but proper man who married late, Son #4, cocaine addict – numerous affairs with both men and women his whole life, Son #5, died at age 13 (Prince John). In a sense she was the Diana of the 1920’s, the strong willed young women moving into the royal family. If she was dissapointed with the family, she responded by assuming many of the responsibilities of leadership to the point that Hitler called her “the most dangerous woman in Europe”.

I would like to see a dramatization of her life. Perhaps Stephen Frears would take on the mother after doing such a good job about the daughter.

There was a TV movie for the jubilee shown a few months after the Queen Mother died. It sounds like it was pretty bad. In many ways, like Diana, she became the bright light of the family. Perhaps she was so dissapointed by the family, but unlike Diana, she stayed and strengthened royalty.
Was anyone else suprised by that 1929 Time article? I did not know that her brother in-law relentlessly teased her about making her queen. I always got the impression that she was shocked when Edward chose to abdicate in 1936.

It would depend on the director, the actors, and the overall quality of the movie and content. But I’d give it a shot.
