Teeth Grinding Headaches?
Question by Peter J: Teeth grinding headaches?
I have been getting nasty headaches due to grinding my teeth in my sleep. I have visited the dentist and they confirmed this and suggested I be set up with a custom mouth guard. I am going to get the guard eventually, but the problem is my insurance won’t cover it and I can’t afford it at the moment. The headaches I wake up with are so sever that no combination of tylenol/advil/aleve and even ice packs help in the slightest bit. I am careful not to overdose on those at all, but I admit to taking plenty extra just to get some relief which usually never comes. Until I can get the money for my guard at night any ideas? (yes, I have tried the over-the-counter night guards. I wake up feeling even more worse and sore)

There’s really nothing else left but for you to get a nightguard. Although you may not have the funds right now to pay for one, you should consider finding a dentist that will accept Care Credit, they have low or no interest payment plans available and it may be worth the monthly payment just to get out of the pain! Call around, you may be able to find a dentist that can make one for cheaper than your current dentist, it doesn’t hurt to call around.
