In Cases of Animal Cruelty, Should There Be Property Seizure and Forfeiture Laws as Applicable With Drug Laws?

Question by marnefirstinfantry: In cases of animal cruelty, should there be property seizure and forfeiture laws as applicable with drug laws?
Should there be a federal law allowing those convicted of animal cruelty forfeit their assets and property to support humane treatment and care of animals.

Currently, there are laws that allow the government, state and federal, to seize property and assets of those convicted of certain crimes. Should those same laws be extended to animals in cases where animal cruelty is concerned.

Should people like Michael Vick be financially responsible for the care and well-being of all the animals-dogs, he menaced and destroyed or should it be left to the taxpayers and private donations?

Please voice your thoughts regarding property and asset seizure laws pertaining to animal cruelty.
