What Type of Sentence Would a Person Get for Possession of Meth. Amount Unknown, Personal or Delivery?

We received an emergency call from our friend “Heidi” that lives several towns away today. Police were at her house, her husband “Mike” checked himself out of the hospital after a hospital stay stemming from complications of drug use. The child welfare people were also at her house. Heidi is a college student with an 11 year old (not his) and a baby under a year old (his). He will not be allowed to live at home until after he completes DCFS ordered treatment.

The house was searched, Meth was found. (I don’t know how much, the officer was not holding it up to see) as well as pot pipes and firecrackers.

My husband talked to the officers and they said Mike would go before a judge tomorrow and possibly be able to bond out.

What legal consequences will Mike face, and what social consequences will Heidi have for this (will it ruin her chances of renting or housing)

She can stay with us for a while, but what are the social repercussions of a meth addicts family?

I am very respectfully asking for solution oriented opinions. Heidi asked me to post this. She is in a real bind, she would of course choose her children over her husband if it came to that.
California: Very wise, that is almost word for word what my husband told her. Thanks.
Chris, thank you so very much for so much knowledge! I don’t know too many other details because I do not live near or with them. We live in Illinois.
