What Are Your Views on Recreational Drugs and the Law?

Question by : what are your views on recreational drugs and the law?
i believe there are very reasonable arguments for legalising and regulating all drugs.
such as putting dealers/smugglers out of business. these people often have low morals and don’t mind exploiting the vulnerable. also they are a big cause of organised crime and put power in the hands of bad people.
licensed vendors would be able to offer users help and advice.
ensuring good quality drugs of a uniform strength and purity to minimise ODs and poisoning.
the price would decrease and so reduce crime committed by users to fund habits.
i have occasionally used ecstasy, weed, cocaine and lsd but apart from this i’m a law abiding person. i don’t steal or lie and treat others with respect. it really doesn’t play a big part in my life. so why make me a criminal?
on many occasions i’ve had the opportunity to try the destructive refined drugs like heroin, crack and crystal meth but i haven’t. just because the option is there doesn’t mean i’m going to go try such drugs because i know how addictive and destructive they are.
so in a nutshell i say, legalise and regulate recreational drugs. and inform people without bias or prejudice so that they can make informed choices.
what do you think?
also i think it would be interesting to know where you are from. i’m from england.
