Question by nunthewizr: We reside in Iowa and my 17 yr old Daughter is out of control with drugs and alcohol. How can I get her help?
She won’t go voluntarily but needs help. She threatens suicde and has already marked up her arms. Can I have the police take her to the hospital and admitted into the pysch ward? Can she then be placed in a treatment program with parental consent?

You HAVE to move. I lived there for 10 years, my brother was around the same age in dyersville, iowa when he started getting into alcohol and hard drugs, we had to move away it was the ONLY way to save his life! If you don’t move she will get VERY hurt! She will hate moving, but it will all turn out for the better! I was 10 when we moved and i know if we didn’t, that was the sure path i would be going down right now, i am 17 now.
Do not send her to a treatment program! Take it from another 17 year old! She will just end up hating you, just do whatever you can and get out of Iowa! She doesn’t need the police or pysch ward that’s crazy! Really moving is the best option, i have been there are seen these things happen. All of my brothers friends that weren’t fortunate enough to leave Iowa have died from drug over dose and alcohol poisoning, don’t let this happen to your daughter!
