Suddenly Increased Intraocular Pressure?

Question by jsprplc2006: Suddenly increased intraocular pressure?
I wear contact lenses, so I end up feeling my eyeballs twice a day.

Today, it suddenly felt as if they were a lot firmer than normal, i.e. the pressure inside has risen somewhat.

I’m in my 20’s, so it’s unlikely I’m at risk for glaucoma (I don’t smoke, drink, anything really).

I do however take prescription amphetamines to counter short-lived depressive bouts I have a few times a month. I know stimulants will increase blood pressure, heart rate, etc. but “eye” pressure?

Just curious what the cause might be.

…and don’t worry, if I start getting tunnel vision or really bad headaches I’ll go to an ER.

go to an optomologists – it could be clogged ducts.

Hi IO pressure can cause PERMANENT damage – deal with it ASAP.

In spite of two thumbs down – I stand by my answer.

I in particular stand by my response that you need to see an optomoligist ASAP. Eye damage can be permanent.

It blows me away what people will do on YA that don’t know what they are talking about – it truly does.

There are many possible causes of increased IOP – but guess what if it persists you DO have glaucoma and it WILL cause PERMANENT damage and I don’t care if I get 1000 thumbs down for speaking the truth.
