I never get sea sickness but my girl friend is worried she might on a 50′ charter boat for salmon out of Monterrey Ca. She never gets it on my 20′ boat on lakes even on rough days. If she takes dram-mine is it still possible she might get sick?

Yes she might get sick. The only 100% prevention or cure for sea sickness is to sit under a tree.
My son and I do an awful lot of sailing. Often spending the winters sailing from Key West to Saba Island and on to where-ever. We seldom ever get seasick, but when we feel it coming on, we use Meclizine (the chewable kind). The chewable kind reaches your blood stream from your mouth – not from your stomach, which is important if someone is tossing their cookies.
It works wonders for us, and also has worked wonders for all our cruising guests (and believe me, we’ve tried them all).
Our experience (and mine exceeds 40 years) is that patches (of any kind) don’t work well enough.
Seriously. . . Sea sickness medication is a lot like sex – you will never know what “great” sex is until you actually experience it. Same is true with sea sickness medication.
In my opinion, (I know because I used them for awhile, and suffered) is that people who follow the directions and put the patch on 2 hours before departing – and then swear by them when they depart – probably would never have been sea sick to begin with. I believe this is true because I know once you get sea sick and put on a patch – it does nothing for you – for as long as you are at sea.
Meclizine however, you can get sea sick, then start chewing them and in a about 10 – 15 minutes feel fine again.

PS Best NOT go looking for a mixture of scopalamine and methamphetamine. That will surely get you arrested. As “methamphetamine” is the pure ingredient of chrystal meth. It’s no wonder those sailors became suddenly energetic. LOL
