It looks like Laura has picked up a cold, and is starting to get a bit snuffly. What’s interesting is that she’s very probably picked up the cold in Helsinki. More interestingly she very probably caught it from Karin, who in turn picked it up in Greece.

Fortunately, it is just a cold, but it does serve to show that anyone trying to contain swine flu really is pissing in the wind. It’s kind of scary when you think about it…so I don’t. 🙂

The medication is not something she needs, but she may in the future. I worship Sudafed Max as it’s the only thing that works for me. I put this down to the massive amount of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in each tablet (at least three times as much as competing brands).

Sadly, though awesomely effective, this ingredient is also a critical ingredient in the manufacture of crystal meth, which means that these pills can only be bought in low quantities and can’t be exported. For the American market they’re already removing it and replacing it with phenylephrine which is much less effective. I really hope they don’t do this for the UK market, but I suppose it’s inevitable. I’ll cry when it happens. Ah well.

Weird Botanica

Los Angeles houses many botanicas, but this one has to be the most unusual one that I have seen to date. The whole place was brightly lit with flourescent lamps and decorated with many phosphorescent magical objects.

What really set it off though, was the giant bullhorn(not pictured) lying near the doorway spouting a bunch of stuff about santos very rapidly in Spanish. I felt like whoever set this place up had done like 60 lines of crystal meth prior.
