Visit to Zheng Sheng Christian College, the second drug rehabilitation school in the world.

It took us a little more than an hour before we reached the school on a small, remote island, far away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.

Classes were suspended on the day we visited as a typhoon drew near. Typhoons are no big deal in Hong Kong, but the school is built almost entirely by students with what you see in the picture. So it needed some extra work…

Hairdressing in the wild

One of the many examples where Zheng Sheng students help each other out. They are only allowed home once a year, and outings to the city require special permission. So getting regular haircuts in shops is impossible.

Practical skills are also stressed in the curriculum. So cutting each other’s hair would be hitting two birds with one stone, I guess.

Almost the entire school is made up of metal sheds that are built by students themselves. I didn’t get it in this picture, but a small mosquito coil (scented repellent) is placed right in front of the boy who was having the haircut.
