My First IV

I had signed up to do a Nicotine study for NIDA (National Institute of Drug Addiction), through NIH (National Institues Of Health). I passed the screening and the physical parts fine, I went for my first session, which was to be a nicotine tolerance test. I was hooked up to the catheter, and put into a fake MRI; sounds, looks, feels, smells like a real one, but no magnetic feild. The were to pump me with a saline solution, then one with nicotine. Apparently, while in the MRI my blood pressure dropped, but my pulse did not increase, so they ended the test; I am disqualified from the study. The Doc made me nervous, she said "Toxins from alcohol consumption have damaged your heart." Not what one wants to hear. I did fall asleep in the MRI, but she acted like she didn’t believe me. So I go to my doctor on Wednesday. They had given me 3 EKGs that day, all which were fine.
Let’s hope it stays that way.
Also, to stay on the safe side, I’m going to abstain until I talk to my Dr.
