My Boxer Has a Constant Bloody Nose Any Way to Stop It?

Question by Moonrize: My Boxer has a constant bloody nose any way to stop it?
We have a 3 year old very energetic boxer. We had some family member including 5 kids come round yesterday and late yesterday afternoon I noticed his right nostril started bleeding. It isn’t pooring out just a small trickle just like a runny nose but he keeps snorting it out and spraying blood everywhere.

Now the kids that came round are not the best mannered and we have a feeling they might have hit him although they say he did run into a gate they have not admitted to hitting him (they have done previously).

We put a open ended loose muzzle on him last night so that we could fix some tissue across his one nostril to restrain the blood and this morning it is still bleeding, we also sat last night with ice packs on the top of his nose to try and help him. We have been giving him plenty of water and he doesn’t seem to be in distress, can touch his nose all over and it doesn’t seem to bother him.
Any Ideas?
Oh we have called the vet he said not to bother bringing him in today and if it hasn’t stopped by tomorrow take him in then as they would just kennel him up today.
Well after a few more ice packs, lots of water and calming him down and snuggling him it has now stopped and he is back to bouncing around as normal. After further investigation it looks like the kids were playing fetch with some pretty large rocks and our dog being ever so smart might have tried to catch them and got bumped on the nose. Yes I know we should try and keep the kids away from the animals and we do, was hoping they might have got better and learnt respect to animals, I guess not but they are family and can’t not have them over and unfair for the dogs to be locked up in the dog run when they are here. Thx for the replies though all.

Time to go to the vet!
Sounds like an injury and needs medical attention.
Would you ask a bunch of strangers on Yahoo what to do if your kid’s nose was bleeding for a FULL DAY and wouldn’t stop!?
